Some researchers say that India pumps around

“It’s time we do something to control the water pollution. The trio’s quirky sense of humour and innovative idea of spreading water pollution awareness has taken the virtual space by storm. No prizes for guessing the top three water spoilers — China, India and the US. It is the equivalent of emptying a truckload of polluted waste every minute. A group of three design students from the National Taiwan University of the Arts have made some popsicles that look appetising but are made from polluted river water.6 tonnes of plastic waste into the ocean every year. However, the Indian government does not have any official data to either deny or support this figure. The students took polluted water from 100 locations and froze the samples in popsicle moulds.

These ‘100 per cent Polluted Water Popsicles’, are flavoured with plastic waste, sewage, cigarette butts, condoms, oil spill, harmful dyes, resin, dead fish, wrappers, bottle caps et al.So the next time you take a bite of your favourite orange ice candy, don’t forget to trash the plastic wrapper in the bin!According to the World Economic Forum, approximately 8 million metric tonnes of plastic waste is dumped into oceans and waterways every year.Top famous plastic injection machine three marine plastic contributors in the world are China, India and the U.. But the idea of the Taiwanese students is superb.Around three billion people across the world get a fifth of their protein intake from the sea and are at risk of consuming plastic and other toxic waste.6 tonnes of plastic waste into the ocean every year.of the waste emptied into the ocean is untreated.

Some researchers say that India pumps around 0.More than 70 per cent of their waste is discarded untreated and disposed of improperly.According to a study undertaken by the World Economic Forum, approximately 8 million metric tonnes of plastic waste is dumped into oceans and waterways every year.A quick lick or frosty bite of the ubiquitous orange, blueberry, kiwi, or strawberry popsicle may be a perfect way to beat the heat, but this is one treat you would never want to be part of. They have been featured in several exhibitions in Taipei, including the Taipei World Trade Centre’s Young Designers Exhibition 2017.Researchers say India pumps 0. The delicious-looking deadly pops were then preserved with polyester resin to keep them from melting. “The idea was to create awareness of water pollution and the importance of people having the right to access clean drinking water,” say the trio, Hong I-chen, Guo Yi-hui, and Cheng Yu-ti, on their social media page.S. It clicks because everybody loves an ice candy, but the next time you buy one, you will think of these disgustingly beautiful popsicles as well,” says Srikant Nayak, an artist and green activist from Mumbai

I never thought I’d have an operation

The غير مجاز مي باشدt of a nose operation starts at around ,500 (nearly 1,400 euros) — more than five times the minimum Iranian monthly salary of 0. In 2013 it ranked fourth worldwide — after Brazil, Mexico and the United States — for nose jobs, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported. Patients also fly in for غير مجاز مي باشدmetic procedures, Amirizad says.” Television is playing a part is the غير مجاز مي باشدmetic surgery craze. “Today it’s 35 per cent. Hugely popular South American and Turkish soap operas, beamed into homes via banned satellite dishes, show actresses looking beautiful after plastic surgery. Botox injections in cheeks or foreheads to conceal wrinkles, collagen in lips to make them fuller, or eyebrow tattoos to replace painful plucking or threading — removing eyebrow hairs with a piece of string — are becoming common. “Twenty years ago, about five percent of men wanted nose jobs,” says the surgeon.

“I never thought I’d have an operation, but when my mother and sister got their noses done, it was contagious. Liposuction is another procedure on the rise and Iranian women — not just the wealthy in the capital — are also paying for less invasive غير مجاز مي باشدmetic changes. Mehrnaz Mehri, a 27-year-old manager at a food trading company in Tehran, says she paid closer to ,800 but considered it good value. “We get them from Iraq and Azerbaijan, but we mostly get Iranian women from abroad who know an operation is much cheaper in Iran than in the United States or other European countries,” he says. More than 60 per cent are nose jobs. According to official figures, up to 40,000 غير مجاز مي باشدmetic surgeries take place in Iran each year, says Amirizad, a member of the Iranian Association of غير مجاز مي باشدmetic and Plastic Surgeons. Such channels, watched by more than half of the population, broadcast round-the-clock advertisements for nose jobs, slimming creams and stomach-sucking corsets. But the quest to look better goes much further: in two nearby rooms at Amirizad’s private clinic, women were having their breasts enlarged.

The patient in her 40s “had two nose jobs with another doctor, but wasn’t happy and asked us to do it again,” says her doctor Javad Amirizad, the latest hybrid injection molding machine Manufacturers surgeon to take her under the knife. In Iran’s largest cities it is easy to spot women — but also men — with bandages on their noses, flaunting the fact they recently went under the knife. In a conservative society where all women in public must wear at least a scarf over their hair and neck, such operations have boomed, with a nose job seen as a way to perfect their most visible asset.”. “I know some famous surgeons ask for up to ,000 for a simple nose job,” she says. And these days, plastic surgery is not just for women. But he says the actual number is much higher as official statistics do not include operations by non-specialist surgeons who are cashing in on people’s desire to improve their looks.Lying on an operating table in northern Tehran, Nazanine says she wants it all: a third nose job, her eyebrows tattooed and liposuction on her thighs to “fix” her figure. The trend has seen the Islamic Republic jump into the world’s top 10 countries performing plastic surgery

Some housing colonies and many families grow

Augmenting, operating and maintaining trash management systems requires huge investment, غير مجاز مي باشدt-effective technologies, public-private partnerships and correct disposal habits in every home and workplace. Some housing colonies and many families grow vegetables this way.Can this method be applied to tourists visiting Goa, Haridwar, Varanasi, Vailankanni or? Can we insist: “If we don’t see you transporting ‘X’ kg garbage back from the place you visited, we will fine you ‘X’ amount"?As the world’s third-largest garbage generator, India has more than 45 million tonnes or 3 million truckloads of garbage untreated and disposed of by municipal authorities daily. The resultant product helps plants to flourish in tiny balconies or windowsills.65 kg of garbage per person per day. Everest show clear blue skies with cloud puffs above the peak.Uttar Pradesh tops the list (19,180 TPD) followed by Maharashtra (17,000 TPD) and Tamil Nadu (14,532 TPD). It is meant to cover collection, scientific processing, disposal, reuse/recycle of garbage (officially called municipal solid waste) for all towns. Cities generate more garbage than villages. If done correctly, there are no smells or insects.India generates about 1,33,760 tonnes per day (TPD) of garbage. Plastics, paper and glass constitute 17 per cent of recyclable waste, which comprises high-calorific-value crucial fuel for solid waste-to-energy plants. City-dwellers generate about 0. Sikkim generates only 40 TPD of waste of which 25 is collected and treated. Launched in 2014, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan tackles waste management, cleanliness and sanitation.

Only 91,152 TPD gets collected and less than 25,884 TPD is treated. To know whether garbage management works, look at the places outside India where you see no piles of trash anywhere. Much of its success depends on whether we segregate and correctly dispose of our own garbage. Peels, seeds, even bones, leaves, stems and leftovers decay into compost even in small pots. We can treat about 500 grams of this at home, by ourselves. Below that grandeur lie tattered tents, discarded haversacks, fraying ropes, innumerable water bottles, tissues, metal rings, plastic bags, rubber footwear and human waste. We all know what surrounds the neighbourhoods of Gangotri, Vaishnodevi, Kamakhya-devi (dirtiest of them all), Haji Ali, Sabarimala, or any shrine in India. Passengers toss nothing outside train/car/bus windows.Studies suggest that the rich produce more garbage than the poor. The sorted material is sent to recycling industries for conversion into useful products.Climbers to the Everest have been fined if they didn’t bring enough rubbish back with them after scaling the peak. Goa, once Indian tourism’s pride and joy, is a classic example of destruction by plastic. India has 8 plants for this, China has 150. Three million trucks lined up is 25 times the distance between America and India. Uttar Pradesh tops the list (19,180 TPD) followed by Maharashtra (17,000) and Tamil Nadu (14,532). Tourist climbers have to “voluntarily” clean up their mess after them. It’s time we tackle our own trash by having two bins, one for the kitchen (wet waste) and the other for paper, plastic, metal, cloth (dry waste).

This includes refuse-derived fuel (produced by shredding and dehydrating garbage) and electricity from biogas. The pristine landscapes have not become endless, stinking, ugly garbage mounds. The estimated غير مجاز مي باشدt of the mission is `62,009 crore. Also, the rich generate more waste than the poor. For a cleaner living, we have to follow the 3-R mantra: Reduce-Reuse-Recycle.India generates about 1,33,760 tonnes per day (TPD) of garbage.Estimated غير مجاز مي باشدt of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is Rs 62,009 crore. At household level, recyclables are collected by kabadis and by the informal sector from compost plants and dump yards. We can’t have a municipal employee chasing each person who spits or urinates, or throws domestic waste from the scooter/car..Sikkim generates only 40 TPD of waste of which 25 tonnes is collected and treated.Raising A StenchIndia is the world’s third-largest garbage generatorIndia generates more than 45 million tonnes of garbage daily3 million truckloads of untreated garbage is disposed of by municipal authorities daily. Social and personal discipline alone works. Sherpas were paid for each kilo of trash they picked up. You save money, too, when you live by it. We have encroached on backwaters, seas, rivers and lakes, built concrete structures on them, clogged the drains with sanitary napkins, condoms, plastic bags and then expect no flooding! Irresponsible dumping of waste leads to blockage of drains (Mumbai floods) and landfill mounds 15 storeys high (Ghazipur).4 million metric tonnes of compost (annually) to support farming.Waste can plastic injection machine Manufacturers generate up to 439 MW of power from 32,890 TPD of combustible waste

It's not like he understands the reasons behind what

"We didn&China two color injection molding machine39;t use any plastic decoration and made buntings from fabric and rented plants to decorate the place. "We segregate the dry waste and a BMC truck comes twice a week to collect it for recycling," says Mugdha as she drags out three big bags of dry wastes including plastic and footwears which she plans to give up for recycling. While Mehndi is still looking for package free oils, Mugdha is trying to convince her family and ends up with some or the other plastic waste. From using home remedies for washing hair to creating their own compost, these people are making conscious efforts to reduce waste production. Zero waste lifestyle is probably not an easy way to live your life, but in the day and age where most of our problem is based on overusing resources, it's probably the most ideal lifestyle. She also replaced the number of bottles of shampoos and conditioners with homemade versions. Her two-year-old son is also being instilled the values of a zero waste lifestyle as he takes a steel water bottle with a steel straw to his playschool. I use home remedies and have also switched to natural alternatives for shampoo," says Marie who has not only made a natural shampoo out of reetha but also made her own toothpaste out of arrowroot powder and deodorant from apple cider vinegar.

Reduce, recycle and reuse is the myntra for patrons living a zero waste lifestyle. As the last week’s high tide washed ashore nine metric tonnes of trash along the Marine Drive, almost nine times the garbage collected from the iconic promenade every day, it brought back the focus on the amount of junk the city generates. It's not like he understands the reasons behind what we are doing but he's being brought up in this environment," Mugdha adds. "It's a big step in zero waste. "I've seen people switching to only water for washing their hair, but it didn't work for me. I also teach him not to use plastic much." She makes everything from cookies, bread to almond milk and cakes at home for her 7-year-old son. Since the party was organised on a terrace, we put up a small tent and a sand pit to entertain the kids," she recalls. Steel water bottle and strawFor Mahim based Talent Advisor, Mehndi Shivdasani, the idea of this lifestyle came to her when she was studying about maintaining sustainability while running a business. Talking baby steps, Mehndi stopped buying packaged juices and also started using a bamboo toothbrush. So now I use eggs or reetha to wash my hair," adds Marie. At the end of the day, zero waste lifestyle is a journey and everyone is following a path best suited for him or her. I started to think more # about it and the measures that I can take to reduce trash.

To spread the mesغير مجاز مي باشدe, she organised an eco friendly party for her son's second birthday. "I involve him while composting and also show him what goes in it. Natural and package-less alternatives are difficult to find, especially in case of store-brought items. According to the 26-year-old, even small changes like using a fountain pen is much better than using plastic single-use pens or refills. "When I was in Sydney doing my masters in Social Entrepreneurship, it got me thinking about a lot of my habits that were not environment friendly. I found people who were into composting and were very conscious about what they use, throw out and how they use a product," says Mehndi about the initial phase of her journey.. But a few good Samaritans of the city are making an effort to live a zero-waste lifestyle to help reduce the waste being produced at an individual level. "I stopped using غير مجاز مي باشدmetics and now I clean my face with oil. Looking to find more people from the city to discuss the problems and achievement of this lifestyle, she organised a few meetups in Bandra. "The meetup helped many of us discover interesting things, such as the possibility of recycling tetrapacks," she adds. Mugdha Joshi, a lactation consultant based in Bandra has set up two compost bins and has also removed dustbins from her house. If you don't make it at home, sourcing it from outside without packaging is a little difficult. Marie Jaiswal, a freelancer based in Chembur has adopted the reduced-waste lifestyle for the last one year. All the waste we produce, whether it is an empty pack of chips or sanitary napkins, either ends up in the landfill or chokes life out of the ocean. But years of using chemicals and commercially made products do make the switch to natural products challenging

In showing that transitioning to a zero carbon energy system

Although each recycle process requires a small amount of new plastic, we can greatly increase the life cycle of the material by efficiently reusing what we make. If the demand for plastic continues to grow at its current rate of 4 per cent a year, emissions from plastic production will reach 15 per cent of global emissions by 2050.. The remainder occurs as a result of chemical and manufacturing processes – for example, the production of plastic foams uses HFCs, particularly potent greenhouse gases. The article was originally published by The Conversation Global Perspectives.8 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions. The materials themselves are carbon neutral, although renewable power is essential to eliminate the climate impact of energy غير مجاز مي باشدts during production, transport and waste processing. The production and transport of these resins requires an awful lot of energy and therefore fuel.A further 30 per cent is emitted at the product manufacturing stage. The bottom line, therefore, is that we will need to reduce our demand for plastic. The vast majority of these emissions come from the energy required to power the plants that turn raw plastic materials into the bottles, bin bags and bicycle helmets we use today.Making plastic climate-friendlyIf we are to combat climate breakdown, reductions in plastic emissions are clearly needed.

If we show a genuine appetite to address plastic pollution, the world could change again just as quickly. We’re all too aware of the consequences of plastics in the oceans and on land. According to the study, simply reducing the annual growth in plastics demand from 4 per cent to 2 per cent could result in 60 per cent lower emissions from the sector in 2050. Newly published research calculates that across their lifecycle, plastics account for 3. However, as much as 40 per cent of landfill waste is burnt in open skies, dramatically speeding up the release of otherwise locked-up carbon. However, beyond the visible pollution of our once pristine habitats, plastics are having a grave impact on the climate too.Carbon footprint of the plastic lifecycleMore than 99 per cent of plastics are manufactured from petrochemicals, most commonly from petroleum and natural gas.The remaining carbon footprint double color injection molding machine occurs when plastics are thrown away. While a life without plastics may seem unimaginable, it is worth remembering that their prevalence is a relativity recent phenomenon. Increasing recycling rates is one simple way of doing this.If it were a country, the ‘Plastic Kingdom’ would be the fifth-highest emitter in the world. Thankfully, the solution with the biggest potential is already in motion, albeit slow. That’s almost double the emissions of the aviation sector. Greenhouse gas emissions also occur during the refining process itself – the “cracking” of larger hydrocarbons from petrochemicals into smaller ones suitable for making plastic releases carbon dioxide and methane. With the population set to rise dramatically, increasingly coveted arable space may not be able to satisfy demand.

In showing that transitioning to a zero carbon energy system has the potential to reduce emissions from plastic by 51 per cent, the study provides yet another reason to rapidly phase out fossil fuels. At 380m tonnes a year, we produce 190 times more plastic than we did in 1950. According to the study, about 61 per cent of total plastic greenhouse gas emissions comes from the resin production and transport stage. Demand is set to rise, too. However, beyond urgently required global decarbonisation, we need to reduce our seemingly insatiable demand for carbon-based plastic. Incineration releases all of the stored carbon in the plastic into the atmosphere, as well as air pollutants such as dioxins, furans, mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls, which are toxic and damaging to human health. A more fundamental solution is to switch to making plastics from biodegradable sources such as wood, corn starch and sugar cane. However, a massive ramping up in the production of bioplastics, which currently make up less than 1 per cent of the total plastic production, would require vast swathes of agricultural land. These raw materials are refined to form ethylene, propylene, butene and other basic plastic building blocks, before being transported to manufacturers. The first artificial plastic, Bakelite, was developed in 1907, but it wasn’t until the 1950s that the age of plastic began. As plastics take centuries to degrade, disposal in landfill makes only a small contribution to emissions in theory. Governments, corporations, and individuals must make research into alternatives a priority and support alternatives to needless plastic waste. The highest-quality plastics can be recycled many times and nearly all plastic can be recycled to some extent but only 18 per cent was actually recycled worldwide in 2015

The work builds on a previous generation of a chemically

With the help of a seed grant from CSU Ventures, the chemists are optimising their monomer synthesis process and developing, new, even more غير مجاز مي باشدt-effective routes to such polymers. The monomer can be conveniently polymerised under environmentally friendly, industrially realistic conditions: solvent-free, at room temperature, with just a few minutes of reaction time and only a trace amount of catalyst.Back at its chemical starting point, the material could be used over and over again - completely redefining what it means to "recycle. The new, much-improved polymer structure resolves the issues of the first-generation material. For these same reasons, plastics waste in causing major environmental problems around the globe. The previous polymer also had low heat resistance and molecular weight, and, while plastic-like, was relatively soft.Researchers from Colorado State University in the US discovered a polymer with many of the same characteristics we enjoy in plastics, such as light weight, heat resistance, strength and durability.Scientists have developed a novel plastic that can be completely recycled as many times as required, without the use of toxic chemicals or intensive lab procedures. The resulting material has a high molecular weight, thermal stability and crystallinity, and mechanical properties that perform very much like a plastic.

The work builds on a previous generation of a chemically recyclable polymer.Polymers are a broad class of materials injection molding factories characterised by long chains of chemically bonded, repeating molecular units called monomers. The new polymer technology has only been demonstrated at the academic lab scale.""The polymers can be chemically recycled and reused, in principle, infinitely," Chen said.. There is still much work to be done to perfect the patent-pending monomer and polymer production processes he and colleagues have invented. They are also working on scalability issues on their monomer-polymer-monomer recycling setup, while further researching new chemical structures for even better recyclable materials."It would be our dream to see this chemically recyclable polymer technology materialise in the marketplace," Chen said.Plastics are cheap, lightweight and long-lasting. Without need for further purification, the monomer can be re-polymerizede.However, the new polymer, unlike typical petroleum plastics, can be converted back to its original small-molecule state for complete chemical recyclability.

Most importantly, the polymer can be recycled back to its original, monomeric state under mild lab conditions, using a catalyst. It led to a design principle for developing future-generation polymers that not only are chemically recyclable, but also exhibit robust practical properties. Synthetic polymers today include plastics, as well as fibres, ceramics, rubbers, coatings, and many other commercial products. The research paves the way for a future in which new, green plastics, rather than surviving in landfills and oceans for millions of years, can be simply placed in a reactor and, in chemical parlance, de-polymerised to recover their value - not possible for todays petroleum plastics. Making the old version required extremely cold conditions that would have limited its industrial potential

The three-month study used a technique developed

"We have been involved with independently reviewing the findings and methodology to ensure the study is robust and credible," said lead researcher Andrew Mayes, from UEA&HXH 20039;s School of Chemistry."Tap water, by and large, is much safer than bottled water," said Mason."It's more urgent now than ever before to make plastic water bottles a thing of the past.Researchers tested 250 bottles of water in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Thailand, and the United States. The plastic debris included polypropylene, nylon, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is used to make bottle caps.10mm) size range - considered "microplastics" - were found at an average rate of 10.Plastic was identified in 93 per cent of the samples, which included major name brands such as Aqua, Aquafina, Dasani, Evian, Nestle Pure Life and San Pellegrino."Widespread contamination" with plastic was found in the study, led by microplastic researcher Sherri Mason of the State University of New York at Fredonia, according to a summary released by Orb Media, a US-based non-profit media collective. "

The results stack up."Jacqueline Savitz, chief policy officer for North America at Oceana, a marine advocacy group that was not involved in the research, said the study provides more evidence that society must abandon the ubiquitous use of plastic water bottles. On average, plastic particles in the 100 micron (0."We know plastics are building-up in marine animals, and this means we too are being exposed, some of us, every day," she said.Miami: The world's leading brands of bottled water are contaminated with tiny plastic particles that are likely seeping in during the packaging process, according to a major study across nine countries published on Wednesday (Mar 14).".4 plastic particles per litre."We know that they are connected to these synthetic chemicals in the environment and we know that plastics are providing kind of a means to get those chemicals into our bodies.Other brands that were found to contain plastic contaminated included Bisleri, Epura, Gerolsteiner, Minalba and Wahaha.

The three-month study used a technique developed by the University of East Anglia's School of Chemistry to "see" microplastic particles by staining them using fluorescent Nile Red dye, which makes plastic fluorescent when irradiated with blue light."I think it is coming through the process of bottling the water."In this study, 65 per cent of the particles we found were actually fragments and not fibres," Mason told agencies."Particle concentration ranged from "zero to more than 10,000 likely plastic particles in a single bottle", said the report.Experts cautioned that the extent of the risk to human health posed by such contamination remains unclear."Time to ditch plastic?Previous research by Orb Media has found plastic # particles in tap water, too, but on a smaller scale."There are connections to increases in certain kinds of cancer to lower sperm count to increases in conditions like ADHD and autism," said Mason.Even smaller particles were more common - averaging about 325 per litre. I think that most of the plastic that we are seeing is coming from the bottle itself, it is coming from the cap, it is coming from the industrial process of bottling the water
